‘Machines of Distinction’
Welcome
Welcome to Macleays Vintage Motorcycle Museum & Gallery, where a singular vision sparked the creation of an extraordinary vintage motorcycle collection.
Macleay and Claire had a choice - hide these remarkable machines away in a dark, expansive garage, or display them in a lively public space, highlighting their beauty and a natural passion for art?
We chose the latter!
It is with great excitement that we introduce you to our ‘Machines of Distinction.’

The Story
Since 1982, Macleay Connelly has dedicated himself to the collection, construction, and restoration of vintage Triumph Motorcycles.
As his remarkable collection expanded beyond the confines of his home garage, his wife Claire inspired him to establish a museum, providing a platform to showcase these exquisite machines.
Each motorcycle carries its own narrative, and Macleay is eager to share his extraordinary stories and passion with kindred spirits and anyone who recognises the timeless sophistication and beauty of these classic ‘machines of distinction’.
In 2024, Macleay and Claire relocated to Bellingen, where they purchased a charming building at the top of Hyde Street. They embarked on an ambitious renovation to transform it into a vintage motorcycle museum. Collaborating closely with a local designer and skilled tradespeople, their vision evolved into a captivating reality, thanks to the support of Bellingen’s local council and an enthusiastic community.
Now, this esteemed heritage building stands as a striking museum, revitalizing the northern end of town. The thoughtfully enhanced interior boasts warm, textured woods, soaring ceilings, and rich toffee and brass tones. Macleay and Claire have poured their passion into crafting a truly unique and unforgettable museum experience for all visitors.
